Immerse Yourself in Antwerp's Diversity in the Jewish Quarter and Seefhoek

Antwerp is a city full of contrasts, and this walking tour celebrates Antwerp's diversity. An engaging city guide takes you to Seefhoek and the Jewish neighborhood.

Seefhoek is one of the most multicultural and perhaps notorious neighborhoods in Antwerp. But don't be deterred by its negative image. Seefhoek surprises with cozy spots, colorful shops, and the ambiance of all the cultures living together. Your knowledgeable guide will tell you all about daily life in Seefhoek and the challenges of residing in this neighborhood.

Afterward, you stroll through Antwerp's Jewish quarter. Experience the atmosphere of the Antwerp Jewish community and learn about their traditions. During the walk, you'll also enjoy four snacks: Jewish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Turkish delights. The portions are sufficient to replace lunch.

This tour is perfect for those who want to discover the most fascinating and colorful neighborhoods of Antwerp in a fun and tasty way.

What does your city tour look like?
  • Your tour begins at Sint-Jansplein at the Panamarenko statue, on the corner with Oude Steenweg, exploring the Seefhoek and the Jewish quarter of Antwerp. The tour concludes at Mediaplein, located in the heart of the Jewish district, at the rear of the station.
  • Our knowledgeable guide introduces you to the culinary diversity of the city, provides insights into the background of migration to Antwerp, and delves into the religious and philosophical beliefs of various groups, exploring how they express these beliefs in their places of worship, rituals, holidays, and gastronomy.

The Tastings

We make 4 stops during the walk, sampling bites from 4 different cultures:

  • Pastel de nata (Portuguese)
  • Dumplings (Chinese)
  • Pide (Turkish)
  • Cheesecake (Jewish bakery)

Please note that there may be changes to the tastings during the tour (due to closing days or unforeseen circumstances). If a tasting is unavailable, we will certainly provide a suitable alternative.

For all our walks, we exclusively collaborate with small, local businesses. No big brands or multinationals. During this tour, you support 4 small, local entrepreneurs in one go.

When does the tour take place?

This tour is available from Wednesday to Sunday. Please be aware that on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, everything in the Jewish quarter is closed. On those days, there won't be a Jewish tasting.

Meeting point

We meet in the central hall of the train station. At the bottom of the marble stair case.
